JOB TITLE: Production Machinist

SUMMARY: This position is primarily responsible for fabricating metal parts by operating mechanical equipment by performing the following duties.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Sets up and runs ALL CNC mills and CNC Lathe, Bridgeport, grinders, along with all equipment within the department.

  • Produce needed prints and/or programs along with other required information (tooling and so on) using the supplied software to produce parts. This is a plus but not a requirement

  • Cuts and makes parts to print within allowed dimensional accuracy/tolerance by using measuring tools, saws, mills, CNC machines and other machinery/equipment within the department.

  • Uses blueprints and design sketches to ensure the proper dimensions and dimensional accuracy/tolerance levels of the finished product

  • Maintains a productivity rate of a minimum of 100% after training period

  • Clocked-in time into Visual (Work Orders and/or Detailed Indirect Entry) when comparing to paid work hours is a min of 80%.

  • Does all required work within Kegel’s Quality Policy

  • Keep work area clean and organized

  • Use proper safety equipment

  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), 6 years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum of 3 years running a CNC Mill and CNC Lathe.

  • Has knowledge of tooling for cutting metals and plastics

  • Great verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to use precision tools (e.g. calipers, micrometers, gage blocks, etc.) to take accurate measurements

  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics and manuals

  • Knowledge of metal, plastics and other materials

  • Outstanding mathematical skills and analytical abilities

  • A plus but not required, 1 year running a Bridgeport and other common machining equipment within the department

  • COMPUTER SKILLS:

    • Knowledge in MS Word, Excel or similar computer software systems.

    • Has previous experience using software within other organizations.

    • The individual will be trained site using employer’s software’s, ERP system and other

      required software.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Continually required to stand for long periods of time (6-8 hours)

  • Continually required to walk

  • Frequently required to utilize hand and finger dexterity

  • Frequently required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl

  • Continually required to talk or hear

  • Continually work near moving mechanical parts

  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move more than 25 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is

    usually moderate
